Commitment to Quality
305MUN firmly believes that the most important aspect of a Model United Nations conference is engaging, high quality committees that allow delegates to maximize their potential and fully utilize their creativity. To this end, we work tirelessly in the weeks and months leading up to our conference to ensure that our chairs, directors, and staffers are trained and prepared to facilitate quality committee experiences.
All committee chairs and directors are selected from the University of Miami's competitive Model UN Team. Each of these students has extensive experience not only traveling and competing at conferences, but also overseeing committees at UM's high school conference, MICSUN. In this way, all of our Chairs understand what is required to engage delegates and make committee run smoothly.
Regardless of their previous experience, all chairs, directors, and junior staff members attend multiple training workshops to refresh their knowledge of parliamentary procedure, familiarize themselves with conference policy, and learn to work efficiently with their dais.
Each of our committees is simulated with the University of Miami's competitive Model UN Team before the conference. This allows chairs and directors to practice and test procedure or possible crisis arcs and iron out any potential problems long before committee sessions begin.
Secretariat members will collect feedback from Head Delegates, faculty advisors, and delegates in committee through the duration of the conference and pass this feedback on to committee daises. This continuous cycle of feedback will ensure accountability for our daises and allow us to maintain high quality committee experiences throughout the conference.
